Dirty panoramic roof

Howdy, I picked up a 2010 451 highstyle today ( :-D )

It looks like the roof has never been washed!!

I was just wondering if it's glass or plastic and if anyone has any tips on how to clean a really dirty one!? I've tried household glass cleaner but it's not really made a difference. I've tried clay on a small area but that hasn't done the trick.

Any ideas peeps?

It's polycarbonate, ie the material cds are made of.

If it bothers you still after appropriate cleaning, you might want you consider wrapping cos it's not cheap to replace despite the material.

Hi welcome to the website. I have a 451 of similar age.

I just clean mine with 'wash and wax' liquid, I do the whole car with it, body, plastic clear roof, windows, all of it, yes, the whole car

Just add water to a small amount of wash and wax liquid in a bucket till its foamy, and put on, clean with sponge, and wash off and the car is gleaming.

Last two years I have been using 'Prodriver wash and wax'. it says it leaves a glossy finish and it sure does. Its gleaming. (as photos). You can chose whatever make of 'wash and wax' you wish.





Do not worry about this 'Sparkling' phenomena below....
Note that you will also have UV microfractures in the plastic roof caused by the sun, we all have them, they appear after a year from new. You will spot this by 'sparkling' showing up in bright sunshine when looking outside through the plastic, and the sparkling moves around with the angle of the sun and the car relative to the sun. You will not spot it so much in the winter as there is a lack of bright sunshine obviously.

Do not worry about this as it has no effect on the strength of the roof so it will not fall in on you. So just live with it. My wife loves the sparkles, so she is happy with it

wash 'n' wax is the worst thing you can use to wash your car with. i have been told that you are sealing in any dirt that hasn't been removed.

I would have thought Carborundum grit mixed with iron filings would have been the worst things to wash your car with .....

Being using wash and wax for many years, as I am to lazy to wax.

Never seen any dirt engrained, but have had a few stuck flies over the years, and once a bird through the front grille

iv seen a Jaguar XF try and eat a fox... not a pretty site when you saw the back end of the fox hanging out the front bumper after being dragged along the road
