  • Starting a 451 / power/ revving ?????

    Greetings to one and all,

I've had a search through the forum but can't find and relevant comment/info so perhaps one of you more knowledeable guys n gals could shed a little light for me.
    will not rev freely
Sold my 450 before I went away on an extended stay in SPain. On recent return, I bought a 451 (non-tubo) and have had a few issues with the car related to the sales company not describing the car properly ... and to be fair to them, they've tried to sort put the problems which by the way in my opinion should have been picked up on at MOT.

However, I've just spent the morning doing a lot of stop - switch off - start motoring and I've noticed that the engine will not rev freely just after starting, but seems to drive away OK and doesn't appear to be short of power whilst driving. This behaviour is quite different to my old 450 which revved away not matter if it was in gear or N !!! So, the question is, is this normal behaviour for a 451 or do I need to throw it into my garage who looked after the old 450 and get them to do an inspection/service on the car ???

Many thanks in anticipation of some helpful input

If your car is in neutral it shouldn't rev above 3-3500rpm, the 451 is electronically restricted when it not in gear so you can't kill it by accident....

i found my 451 was electronically restricted / limiter on it . but later had a remap that made it a lot smoother & quicker . it also removed the restriction / limiter .
