Air con question

Simple question really, 451 cdi facelift. Does the air con, when set as low as possible, try to get the car as cold as possible, or is there a set temperature that it tries to achieve, then maintain, say 18c or something? Thanks . . .

If you whack it to either endstop it will go to max (chill or heat)

On max chill, your fingers should start to feel painfully cold if you stick them in the vent holes for 5 minutes.

If it doesn't get your fingers painfully cold then your aircon is fubared

Get a mobile aircon specialist out who will gastight test it

It's quite probable that the condensor (aircon rad) is compromised though.(i.e. got a leak)
