  • roof blind

I remember a comment somewhere about not over tightening the roof blind screws otherwise the pegs they screw into will break off .... someone has been there before me & broken 3 of them. I've managed to piece together two of them (kinda) but one of them was completely fubar'd. Just wondering what others have done in the same situation :-?

At least I've sorted one of the rattles ....while messing about with the blind I noticed that the roof panel had come unstuck slightly at the FNS .... I've put Tigerseal on where I could and clamped it. So far .... so good. :-)

The pegs are part of the roof panel ...... I'm not prepared to replace the roof for the sake of a blind

And whats that supposed to do?
It's made from polycarbonate so won't shatter like the old 450 glass ones.

I get it, just thought you were hinting at a "panoramic windscreen" failure claim...lol

                There is that too lol

I guess you'll have to epoxy some replacement support to the panel, prior to that keying the surface to a suitable area for best bondage

You can source various plastics stock on ebay, not much money for small cut to size pieces

Photo's of the application would help, I cant visualise it right now, but possibly make a small base out of the 5mm sheet (below), drill a hole in that (carefully when its part of a bigger sheet), cut to size, then glue a piece of the rod in the hole, then glue that sub assembly to the roof.

The blind is back in place for now, missing opposite corners. The self tapers screw into what look like circuit board stand off pegs glued to the roof but have a metal 'cage' around them, presumably to give it a little more strength for when the self taper goes in. I'm sure work will have someting suitable ...... i was thinking of turning a top hat shaped peg to give me a bit more area to glue ... same idea as you :-) Having said that, I'd to buy some ally bar to turn some buttons for my Roadster's speedo pod!!!!!
