id say dont do it. the reason being is that it will fail the MOT at some point on either no DPF fitted or the diesel smoke test, drive the car as its supposed to be driven and everything should be ok with the DPF... but its your car and your call

Removing it they say is bad for the birds, the bees and our health but DPF and EGR are no good for engine longevity, fuel economy and the wider environment. Read this for advice regarding MOT: http://www.avontuning.co.uk/blog/dpf...t-pass-or-fail

Longevity of the engine or of the DPF and EGR systems?

DPF & EGR increase amount of soot produced by engine. Soot contaminates oil and causes increased wear.

i have seen where cars have done just short of 200,000 miles in 4 years on the original engine where a DPF has been fitted and still running sweet... If not better than new!

and of course a company that does DPF removals is going to say that the DPF removal will pass... There example of a 530d from 1999 and a 530d from 2008 is, in my opinion bull. Reason being is that the emissions regulations have changed in since 1999 and 2008 and the pass limit has gone down for newer cars. Car from 1999 have to pass the level that had set back in 1999 and not 2008... And cars after 2008 will have to pass an even lower limit.

When i worked at the jaguar dealer in York we had a pre-DPF 2.7 tdv6 s-type fail the smoke test and not a little over... Well over a reading of 10 was recorded! The pass limit was somewhere close to 0.5. If it was driven gently it never smoked but driven hard it kicked some **** out the exhaust. Once cleared it passed

Their owners should be locked up in the village stocks, especially those driving VW and Audi!

Those who removed DPFs and/or EGR, and those who remapped for aggressive pre-boost fuelling will have to accept the part they played in the diesel's demise.
