451 CDi clutch replacement 54bhp version

Hi, just wondered if anyone has any advice on buying replacement clutches?
From what I can see on the manufacturers websites, petrol & diesel clutches are physically interchangeable but the 54bhp diesel always has a different friction plate part number & the complete kits for this model are around 50% dearer! Should I just stump up the extra dosh or is the petrol/40bhp diesel clutch perfectly ok to fit?
