  • Retro-fitting parts

    Hello all,

im having a real hard time trying to find out what i can retro fit to my smart roadster...

I got a very special deal by getting a showroom modle but its missing things such as:

    Fog lights
    Electric mirrors
    OBC
    Auto headlights
    Auto windscreen wipers
    Cruise Control
    Heated Seats

i was wondering wheather anyone had luck retrofitting the options above?

also where do you get your OEM smart parts.... Smart Geneva are not the most helpful people.....

    thanks for your help

    Dave

    electric mirrors possible

    foglamps possible
    OBC ???

Autoheadlights - some people want this turned off mg:

windscreen wipers (need a new screen for that as sensor is bonded to screen)

    CC - possible

heated seats forget it (unless you can find a scrapper to steal the seat off)

Auto headlights will need a new screen to as the sensor is in the same bonded unit as the wiper sensor - to be honest not worth it ! Both will need the SAM unit re-programming . It took my dealer 3 weeks to get the lights working on my car & are still not the same as it was when I picked it up ! - and they are supposed to know about it

Cruise can be done - there are a number threads about the 'new' stalk you will need.

Heated seats- - need whole new seats & swircheson the dash . NO idea if the wiring loom is tha same for all the cars but just not attached - guess it might be based on the threads about boost/ temp dials .

          thanks guys,

by OBC i menat on board computer ... i think in the smart world its called a trip computer!! is the loom already there, ocz i looked and i couldnt find it... not that there is much room to move ur head in these lil beasts

          fog lights:
i was looking at my roadie and noticed that the loom is in the dash behind the blanking plate but its not bween the fuse box and the "fog lights"

does anyone have a tutorial for retrofitting these parts: foglights crusie control and electric mirrors...

me and the search utility just dont seem to work... i look but i dont find... :-(

the CC cannot be done by you - it needs waking up via diagnostics once stalk is replaced.
It's not far off the prefitted price though

If you spec it when you buy the car - IIRC it costs £125 (fitted)

If you have it retrofitted - it's just over this price

Im def. Interested in the OBC... 160quid dont sound too much... thats the same cost as the option (well here anyway)

but i cant see the wires... are they hidden around the back?

who has done this sucessfully? what other parts do i need?

                      thanks

i am sure they are there as when i put in the temp/boost gage there was a couple of extra bits empty behind there i am sure they would just 'plug in'

                          Retrofitted Cruise Control

I've just had Cruise Control retrofitted for £73.17 by those lovely people at smart of Totton.

Works a treat and such a bargain too!

Anyone know how much it is to have the leather heated seats retro fitted? Also, do they leather the door cards and dash too?

AFAIK you would be better getting a specialist to leather the car for you - unless you can get some off a scrapper or you've a big wallet mg:
