No idea where it came from, but it wasn't a "normal" bike rack . The bike was carried at an angle between rear of the roof and I thought the boot, but there might have been a tow bar attachment - I didn't get that close.
The bike rack was based on the fact that the car had a luggage carrier on the back, and then used a single track bike carrier layed at an angle with the bike looking forwards with the car... so obviously this is only any good if you have a roadster and not a coupe...
I used to use a Paddy Hopkirk cycle carrier on the boot lid (albeit metal) - was very involved in a cycling club and regularly carried both mountain bikes and road bikes without any problems. It had adjustable straps which hooked on the boot lid and underside. The roadster of course may need padding on the hooks to avoid damage to panels.
I would not go for a removable rack with hooks under the edge, as its not metal, but plastic/fibre composite. Could break/snap off easily.
no, but you could hook themup behind the panel onto the crash bar or on the torsion bar thingies. (as long as you can get them there without the strap being against the exhaust)
there were photos on thesmartclub messageboard of someone's roadster with the bike rack fitted.
Ive got a bike rack on my roadie (not coupe) not sure what make it is as i got it for christmas a couple of years ago for my old car, its a standard off the shelf halfords special. ive got the top bar on the roof and bottom on the boot with straps on the roof, boot and rear crash member, It had to go there as i have a spoiler on the back.
