  • Tyre Fight! (Toyo v. Dunlop)

Anyone had experience and or comparison between Toyo Proxes T1-R and Dunlop SP9000 205/45/16's?

Which is the best tyre? I know that the Toyo is a soft compound and a good mid-range priced tyre but is the Dunlop worth the extra cost?

I had the dunlops and the goodyears on my alfa, the dunlops were pants but the goodyears were superb. I've heard only good things about the toyos but don't have first hand experience

Ok make it a three way fight but give me good reasons as to why you chose the winner .

No experience of the Toyos or the Goodyears, but I have to say that the Dunlops would be the last things I'd go for.

Rubbish in the wet, not that great in the dry after the first 3000 miles.

The Eagle F1's are Excellent in the Dry and Excellent in the wet! If all you want is the absolute best performance in warm wet/dry road conditions get those.

If you don't like road noise and want maximum economy look somewhere else. They also suck big time in the snow/ice. But if you cared about that you wouldn't have bought a Roadster!

As a bonus they also look good, like proper sports car tyres

Just put them on my mk7 mate (T1-S) and the cornering is roadster like now - 195/45/15s on the front and 195/50/15s on the back . . . but I'm still open to opinions for the roadster - love the Toyos though .

Michelin Pilot Sports are not being considered why?

hi i have michelan pilots on my smart roadster brabus and they are great on the dry roads but when it comes to wet they are terrable. i have had the car side ways a few time because of the **** grip they have in the wet. i would go for bridstones as they are the best!!!!:goodlk:

If it's just between toyo and Dunlop, then Toyo wins everytime. Yoko R's are good in the wet as well, so depends if you go out much in **** weather?

Had the Michelins on my Brabus and I agree with you. Now running Dunlop SP9000s as a compromise, because I had to wait too long for Pirelli P Zero Nero's.

Those would have been my choice because both good in dry and wet conditions. Dunlops are better in the wet than Michelins but sidewalls seem to be more flexible than Michelins and this causes some unwanted movement in the car at high speed through a corner. Michelins in dry conditions are fine.

Normal street tires are more or less always a compromise, otherwise I'd have a set of Uniroyal Rainsport for the rain and Yokohama A038s for dry conditions.
