Wet under the carpet!

I am sure there is some old treads on this subject but I can't find it (them).
I checked under the front of the carpet on the right side (passenger side) and it is wet wet wet. Is there any speciffic points to look out for when removing it for drying? It looks like it should come out without removing the chairs.
Am I right?
The weather is good for drying now.

Hi Jørgen,
To get the carpet out you need to remove the chairs as well as the console, and the gear selector cover.
But, since you are in Sweeden there is an easier way:
First push a towel under the carpet to let it soak up the worst part.
Then go and buy a boot drier (the octopus type with 4 hoses (I think this is a scandinavian thing only)). Push the hoses under the carpet and switch on. Usually there is a one hour timer on these so you need to block the timer with some sort of tool. Leave it on over night and you should be hi and dry. I use this on my Passion every spring to dry out the water left by snowy/icy boots during the winter drive.

Check your air-con condensate pipe is not blocked, or worse still has come off the drain on air-con.

That was the problem on mine when I had wet area in footwell.

I have no AC. It is leaks from the side windows. I am in the process of fixing them.

Re the leaks, how tight are the doors and windows to the seal, all you may have to do is adjust the door to pull it in tighter

I have printed a leaks guide (53 pages) from evelution and will go through the steps. I guess You are saying something important there. The left door (drivers side) is actually tighter to close but it still leaks. Maybee the window does not stop at the exact right place when closing.

I recently found my Fortwo passenger footwell and battery compartment FULL of water. I think it must have been driving through a bit of a flood!!!
I solved the carpet removal problem easily by clever cutting so that I could just lift it out. Because the carpet is so thick, it just slotted back into place and stayed there without a trace. You need to be careful of cables under the carpet though.
I suppose the deciding factors might be the amount of work to remove as a whole, and the newness of the car!

This is a good idea!

I have dryed out the right side yesterday and it seemes to work fine. Will check the drivers side this weekend. I have an idea about how to use the heating from the car to dry out under the carpets. This to is planned for this weekend.

drying too quickly can cause the carpet to shrink - especially if taken out of the car.

I had a leak behind the seat on my roadster and I basically lifted the carpet, popped a newspaper underneath and removed it each night - and drove to work with the heat on full blast into the footwells - withing ten days it had dried out with no shrinkage.
