  • Roadster Car Cover Recommendations

Given that apparently my Brabus Roadster was assembled by a bunch of drunk uninterested primates, on a Friday, I'm making the assumption that it will ALWAYS leak.

With that in mind, does anyone have any recommendations about a suitable car cover? It would have to be something easy to put on as it would be used daily, and obviously something water proof!

I got one from eBay, £57 and it's a great cover. They usually have one on there. It's tailored to the car, has wing mirror pockets and doesn't scratch the paint (I've very very careful over my paint) and it's suitable for daily use.

Thanks very much for the tip HoagieKat, that's cheaper than the other ones I've found online.

How easy is it to put on and take off? Do you use it daily?

It takes me about 5 mins to put on, so it's pretty easy! Don't use it daily as I tend to swap cars between the fortwo and the roadster, so when I'm not using the roadie the cover goes on it, mine isn't much of a leakster so I don't mind it getting the occasional shower.

I bought mine from Smarts R Us, it cost about £60 I think. Dead easy to put on and take off, especially when you find the little label on it that says "FRONT". Doh.

It's a snug fit, seems waterproof (car is garaged but the garage roof leaks!), and it covers the wing mirrors cutely as well.

            Thanks for the tip!

Cuteness at covering the mirrors wasn't one of my top priorities but could be viewed as a bonus I suppose.

            Thanks again,

            RC

Thanks! I've just asked if its waterproof.

I am sure it will be made from the same as the ForTwo covers, so it will be fully waterproof. it's a fabric with a good plastic coating on it and then a foam inner lining. They are certainly waterproof.

                  For the money I think they are OK, I only have 2 complaints about them;

                  1) They are, due to the materials used totally non breathable (not a issue) BUT there are no vents to allow air to circulate/allow moisture out. If left under the cover for a week or so your car will start to smell a little musty I think. Most car covers have vents to prevent this from happening, these don't.

                  2) The means of fixing it to the car is basically just a pull draw string. I have known ours on a ForTwo bellow up and try to blow off/away. You really have to make sure it's VERY tightly done up (or live some place where there is no strong winds). Again the lack of 'vents' means it's just like a parachute so it will catch any wind about.

                    Re: Roadster Car Cover Recommendations

The cover I have is a breathable fabric, so it lets moisture out, and it attaches by two long straps underneath, so in a wind it can't escape!

Yes, the ones in your link are like that (they make 4 different types). I'll be getting their monsoon cover soon I expect for the roadster. These are better than the Smart ones, but also cost more. I can honestly say these ones will NOT blow away though!

The indoor/outdoor one is good (and breathable) but I'd say it's shower proof not rain proof. All depends what weather it's likely to get exposed to and how much you can/want to pay I guess.

What ever the price though, they are all cheaper than a SAM unit

                        Re: Roadster Car Cover Recommendations

I use the smart one on my RC, easy to put on, and remove, not blown off yet, and is waterproof.

After 3 weeks under the cover while I was in Canada, the only issue was the small army of spiders that had decided it was a nice place to be!
