Realize this is an old post but Ncap has points which is then simplified into stars.
When you look at the BMW mini and the 450, there's only 3 points between them (22 and 25) and the 450 was better on both side impacts (with plastic doors!) and pedestrian safety but people just seem to look at the stars. Also I think things like ESP have an effect on the score which the 2000 fortwo didn't have, so I recon a 698cc 450 would just nudge into 4 stars and I recon the roadster would definitely be a 4 star minimum as it's built the same plus has a longer bonnet.

it was a subtle reference (as was the 'hanging around at Paddington') to a then current news story involving someone arguing on the line and who was then run over by a train

The Paddington story was a SmArt one! Think it was one of a spate of accidents that week. Can't remember the other now!

life's too short to worry about how you're gonna die! You could be having an argument on the railway line or hanging around at paddington - but the only thing that's certain is that you're gonna do it at some point!

If you're gonna do it in the roadster, do have some consideration for other roadster owners and have a head on - that way we can buy the engine and other bits from the scrapyard afterwards.

end of the day, you can be the most careful of driver, and you'll be in a plane crash! not much you can do for other peoples errors

My main concern with the roadster is it's low profile. I wonder if a head on would cause the other car to ramp up onto the bonnet and crash into the cockpit area through the windscreen.

An interesting crash test of a 42 done on 5th gear some time ago. I wouldn't want to be in any car for a 70mph crash.
