  • Yellow Triangle on the Dash

A few times recently I have had the ESP warning triangle light up on my dash, and not go away. It tends to happen after a lively bit of driving, pulling away from the lights for instance, but I didn't feel the ESP cut in, and the roads have not been slippery.

It doesn't feel down on power (so not in safe mode) and If I turn the ignition off and on again, then it goes away.

I expect the answer will be "get your fault coes read", and I will do so in the new year, but does anyone know what it might mean?

i means there is a midget lodged in you engine bay. I suggest coaxing him out it a waffle.

The ESP light may come on if there is problems with the reluctor rings. http://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php...359&men=wheels

it might be that but i think you should check the whole waffle midget thing first.

Are you shifting manually? Have you caught the ESP button with your knuckles as you change and not noticed?

                          Back to the original topic

This has happened once in my car, I just put it down to being particularly hard on the car a few seconds before.

I had a Rover Coupe a few years ago, and if I went a bit mad in that the fuel cut off would pop and the car would just stop.

Re: Yellow Triangle on the Dash

Sorry, I forgot to say that I had checked for midgets already, there were none that I could see, but they could have been hiding I suppose. I couldn't smell any waffles either.

Yes, I am shifting manually, but no I am not hitting the ESP button. I know because I have pressed it deliberately several times to try to clear the light and it has not had any effect.

I had a Rover 216 whose fuel cut off would trip at the slightest provocation. Such as hitting a curb with the stupidly low front tow points. I got good at resetting it by feel.

Reluctor rings - is this likely to be a problem on a 05 plate 25k mile Roadie Light?

is the ESP light the only light on?
as the reluctor rings cause the abs light to come on too don't they?

Have you changed the steering wheel? - it maybe a faulty connection in the steering angle sensor in the cartridge at the back of the wheel.

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."
