  • [Smartuki] Anyone did a Suzuki engine conversion?

From what is shown on the website www.smartuki.com, it does look pretty impresive on paper.

i wonder has anyone here did this conversion on a roadster. i would like to know what is the review of this tuner. The website seems like they havnt update it for sometime, a lot of things are not very clearly explained. I wonder are they still in business?

I have some questions to ask, if you guys can help me out that will be great!

    - how reliable is this kit?
    - where to get a working Suzuki engine in good condition ? ebay?
    - does the kit include an auto gearbox and clutch?
    - how much i will be looking to pay for a full conversion including the price of an engine and labour.
    - how can the car cope with this much power in winter? will the ESP stays? are there aftermarket limited slip diff?
    - engine management: will the electrical match with the new engine?
    - does the vehicle class as a kit car after conversion?

    many thanks

From what I have heard you should only consider this if you plan to use your car purely as a track-day car afterwards - as it's pretty unusable on the roads, very tedious to drive, and needs servicing ridiulously regularly (something like every 800 miles or so...) and a regular rebuild (every 5000 miles?)

        Bike gearbox and clutch.
Investigate the ratio spread between first and top (approx 2) and compare with fortwo's (approx 4) to see what you are getting. Then wonder at the wisdom of operating a control (clutch) designed for hand use - with your foot.

The rest of your questions are for Smartuki to answer but don't expect 'Yes the standard smart ESP still works' to be one of them.

Go buy a bike engined autograss car instead - already built and loads cheaper.

By the time the final bill is totted up you could have bought an Elise - proper sports car.

A few years back SmartsRus put a large suzuki engine in a 42 but the same principle would apply to
a roadster - it was bloody awful, and the opinion was unanimous.

Not one single person who has driven one would ever describe it as easy to drive.

They are unreliable,as good as undriveable and as good as uninsurable.

They did a Roady too, it lunched clutches but was a hoot, but gash tastic to boot
