1. The brakes vibrate slightly - I think this is due to a bit of corrosion from being left outside for a while - even after a 15min test drive there was still a bit of rust on the disks.
2. The handbrake warning is always on - I probably didn't wire that back up after getting to the ignition.
3. One of the keys is de-synced. Is there any way of DIYing this? Even if it's a bit more costly than the smart dealer option I'm up for it.
4. The right indicator no longer works. It's odd, because the warnings work fine... I'm expecting it's a fuse issue and really hoping it's not lasting damage on the SAM.
Any insights on these problems would be appreciated. Particularly 3&4...
3. Most will tell you that it has to be done on a STAR machine. There are unconfirmed reports that there is a DIY fix which is as follows - disconnect battery > both terminals. Hold the wires together (+ & -) for about 30 seconds. Reconnect battery > try key again - it may work. Let us know your findings.
4. Hmmm..... I suspect it's SAM damage but hopefully you will prove me wrong!

3. The battery was left disconnected for 48hrs which likely achieves the same effect as your suggestion. Unfortunately nothing.
4. Me too, although I also switched over the fog and reverse lights which may have an impact. Not sure though.
Having a quick look on eBay at the star machines and the bit that annoys me is they need a specific laptop. There are some third party machines (autoaid seems to be the most advertised) that are much cheaper but I'm not sure whether they do key synching or even connection to smarts... I await a response from them...
STAR will run on any laptop,i have my diagnostic software on various machines that i use. It does however need a COM port or a USB-COM Convertor lead.
The only reason that an IBM T30 or Dell D630 are used as they are pretty rugged and hardwearing.
They use these models as the images taken are from these models, either that or its the same image and they have the same hardware, its a driver/hardware issue. Hence the VMWare player on the usb hdd.
If the key will start the car (Meaning the immobilizer part of the key is still synced) then other key programmers should be able to code the central locking part. If however the immobilizer part has become de-synced then you will need a star machine to recode it. The kits do not come with the tan coding software though so you would have to source that separately.
The electrical issues are probably residual faults due to the sam damage, may need another thorough clean? if not then you may be able to send it off for repair i'm sure there is someone who can repair them depending how far gone they are....
