turbo holds at 0.5bar whats wrong???

i have a raody brabus exlusive and I have had a new exhaust/turbo last year and all was working ok but now its only holding at 0.5bar.
its like its in a limp home mode.
I have disconnected the battery for some time but still does not go to the full beans 1.5bar. any suggestions before I take it to merc to have diag looked at. (hopping I don't need to as any time it goes in I get £2k bill even from servicing regular with them it was happening.)

Check that the wastegate actuator arm is still attached.

Don't take it to a dealer, you have specialists not too far from you. Might be the cycle valve.

Mine did the same and as racing snake said have a look at the wastegate arm its only held on to the flap by a small circlip its an easy fix, just look under the back you can see the turbo you will soon see the arm hanging off.

0.5 bar usually means the E clip has fallen off the wastegate actuator rod as has been said.
A 20p fix if you get underneath and reattach it yourself (20p being for a new E clip from your nearest hardware store).
Or probably £90+VAT for minimum 1 hour's labour if you take it to Merc.

Personally I'd go for the cheap option.

That second photo is coming from your breather pipe (I suspect) - check this:


if that's split, you'll need to change it! - it's not expensive, just a bit annoying to get proper access to it.

Now, can you take another photo of the wastegate a little further away - you've cropped off the end of the arm which should be attached (unless you're telling us that it is still attached).
On your photo's its on the far left.

Also, there is no oil in the wastegate actuator - but has the end of it popped open???!! or is that just catching the light in the photo's??

Finally - have you ever had your turbo changed?

Well the actuator is connected it is a little hard to take photos under there but will be seeing if i can get a the car up higher. That pipe you pointed out i have replaced so will take a look again it looked to me like the leek is going from a lower point but i will update later with othere pics. I was woundering if a breather was not connected to the actuator squirting oil and air in the engine bay and the actuator spring bleeding pressure off at 0.5 bar

Check that the one-way valve in the breather pipe (the bulbous bit in RS's pic, just forward of fingers) is a actually sealing. If not, the boost will pressurise the crankcase causing leaks and the boost level will be lower.

My leak seems to be from the pipe from the intercooler to the head. At the head end there seems to be a hard plastic/rubber insert thats a little outta shape and cracked. I reshaped it put back together and had a quick blast and now no leak. But i am still only getting 0.5bar i guess the ecu will start relearning?or should it have come back all ready?

The boost will return immediately - I can only recommend that (if the arm is definitely still attached!) to recheck all of the pipes going into the back of the wastegate, and check all of the sensors are still in place - particularly the IAT & MAP sensors in the inlet manifold.

Well i have checked all i can so as in 700miles i need a 1spanner service i will need a number of a local specialist to look at that and the service. A good job but not expensive.
