  • Brabus Roadster 110000 miles, remap or bust?

    Hello everyone,

Hopefully someone can help. I live in Reading in Berkshire and work long hours.

The car i just bought is a Smart Brabus Roadster Coupe. its done 110000 miles. I am looking for a remap for more hp and better mpg and hopfully faster gearbox changes.

I only have about 300 pounds to spend on the Mapping, so the question i have is should i bother? with the mileage of the engine and turbo is it worth pushing the limits?

Can the car be "remapped" at my home or workplace?

    Hope someone can help.

    Tony

I would not advise mapping a Brabus Roadster unless you are prepared to get the internals of the engine (specifically the con-rods) beefed up to cope with the extra power - and your £300 budget won't stretch to that.

The standard Brabus output is 101hp from a 698cc engine - or to put into context - 145hp per litre of displacement - about as much as the most highly tuned cars on the road - equivalent to a Subaru Imprezza, Mitsubishi Evo - car's that need servicing every 3000 miles to stop them lunching themselves.

Given how many of them are on the road, there are an alarmingly high proportion of Brabus Roadster engines that have holed their block - and most (if not all) of these were remapped.

As for better MPG - they're 50+mpg as they are - exactly how economical would you like it to be?!

Contact Ian @ Big performance - he'll come to reading (he's over near chobham)

Contrary to the above, I'd say go for it, you'll squeeze a few more horses out of the engine and it'll make the car overall much smoother and more enjoyable to drive.

I remapped my Brabus Roadster from very early on and was very happy with it and it's still going today without a rebuild

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

        We have already spoken.

One serious question, are you willing to blow it up on a dyno to give you its current bhp and torque?

Tony - I'm also in Reading and looking for a remap, so maybe there's something we can do to reduce the costs for the mobile remappers - have you done much research in to the potential providers?
