  • Crank sensor stuck

Hey, so trying to change crank sensor. Finally got at the bugger and it is completely stuck. Have managed to break off half the top but don't want to break anymore as the rest of it is just a cylindrical shape. So how on earth am I going to get this out Have had grips on solid but no amount of force will remove it

Corroded aluminium expands causing the sensor to become stuck. You could attempt drilling a hole slightly off centre, fit a suitable screw and pull it out with a slide hammer.

PS. I first heard about stuck crank sensor 10 years ago so I immediately pulled mine, cleaned sensor and bore and refitted with protective grease. I had engine out recently and took the opportunity to pull crank sensor. It came out with ease thanks to the grease.

When doing my engine swap I tried to get my sensor out and did exactly what you did, as I had engine out we just broke it up. I would suggest drilling it like Tolsen said. Then grease the new one before putting it in

              If it were mine....
If there was room for - and assuming the diameter of the stub isn't too large - I'd look to detach the chuck from a drill, clamp it on and wrestle the sod out of there. If that didn't work I'd drill as much of it out so as to collapse it. And if that didn't get it out I'd burn/melt it out of there (blow torch or heated on a gas stove implement).
