  • Anyone raced a brabus

Hi all I still have my brabus coupe this year I am taking up hillclimb sprints and have to decide what car to do it in I'm not going to use my Lotus as I don't want to smash up 30k thought about an old mx5 but then I got to thinking what about my little brabus nippy once it's going and sticks like glue but would it be any good you can't just take it for a trial so I have to get it right has anyone ever raced or hillclimbed one?

    Thanks

Worth a go but I would get rid of any excess weight, reckon you could probably lose 100kgs doing that

Read the regs and see what class it falls into and gauge the competition. Being turbo it will incur a capacity correction, typically 1.4 Thus at 1.4 (for example) you would be up against 1.0 litre NAs. If they are bike engined you will be last at every event.
It will likely have to go in a sports car (not saloon) class and there will probably be classes split into road going and non road going. Competitors in the latter will likely run slicks. And monster brakes...and on it goes. Each class will probably have its own rules re weight reduction. If a cage is required - any weight saving will be pretty much nullified. Good luck - and take a leaf out of Colin Chapman's book. Read the regs inside out before even lifting a spanner,

It was called Froglet (Google it for more links) and the answer is an MR2 engine transplant

Spottysmart uses his Roadster for hillclimb and also races the Smart Car Specialist race Roadster on the track.
