How fast is your internet??

We've always struggled at our house for a decent connection. It's not like we live in the sticks, we're on the edge of a pretty major town!
I used speedtest.net (and their app) and this was the result:

1.17Mbps , and we were paying for 20Mbps

According to the stats, we were within the bottom 4% of average broadband speed in the UK.

Following a bit of an arguement with sky (our providers), we binned them off and moved to BT on their big 'Infinity' package.
I'll post up the results when I get home, but needless to say, it was not 1.17Mbps

So what sort of speeds are you guys running?

i am the same as above, although virgin are gonna double the speed FOC by april for us

Home now... and ^^^ is very close to our new speed.

That 50MB download must be crazy!, I was impressed when I downloaded a 2GB film in 20 mins, prevously this would have taken about 6 or 7 hours!

with talktalk i get :-
download speed :- 11.46 Mbps
upload speed :- 0.52 Mbps

does go up to :- 13.00 Mbps at quite times

average speed for our area in newquay , cornwall

50Mbps down (and we do get that) but only 1.5Mbps up, cos Mr Branson's "upload speed upgrade" is doing the first cabled area last!

I live 200 yards from the local exchange. The top speed we can get is 7.5 Mbs. Average is 5.9 Mbs during a weekday. The slowest it drops down to on an evening is 40 Kbs !!!!!!!!!!

Pay for 8mbs

Sticking with them for now, though BT keep phoning us to tempt me to switch to them, Me "stick cable in and i'll switch, when is it due here?", BT "um - we don't know", Me " I bet if Virgin had cable here you'd know!"

The joke is Virgin sent me a personalised addressed Tivo blurb thingy (Probably know I am SKY user) I got excited phoned them up expressing my interest and asking "so when you be laying cable here?" Virgin doofus typey click click "Erm we don't have any plans to!, is there anything else we can help you with?".....

18.81 Mbps down, 2.01 up.
I do only live 65ft from the exchange though

4mb/s on three mobile??? Wow!! I live in Bristol and am not getting 1mb/s.
