      Am i missing something here?

By the time you have bought an engine etc and then had the additional hassle and expense of the conversion, would it not be better just to buy an early Smart?

well if i can pick up an engine for £500 ish then i'm in buissiness. Would rather a mk1 for peanuts but they don't exist.

I bet that conversion all said and done would cost £2k. You can get a Smart for that.

you need way more than just an engine though.

buy a cinquecento instead, and whack a punto engine in. Hell theres one for sale on the fiatforum at the mo, already all modded

not as quick as the turbo'd version, but mines pretty nippy:

                    Re: Fiat 126 conversion.

nooooo can't stand cinqs. my mate had a non sporting.. was awfull to drive- the pedals were too close together and far too small.

Been told that a cinq lump would pop in the 126 though, but i love the smart engine and the instant 84bhp from only £300 of tunning.

The smart is great and all- would prefer a smart- but lets face it- i have £1k to play with- smarts don't happen for that money- or will someone proove me wrong?

thats it- just phoned z cars- they said they're out. Just not going to bother- when i mentioned smart engines and the smart / bike conversion for SRU they said nope- not at all. Seemed pretty up for it until then. Wonder what went wrong.

hmm might not bother me thinks- seems too much trouble than its worth. Does anyone know if the water cooled engine may be tunable?
