Ive seen 167bhp in a for2 and that didnt wheelie.

Only £20,000 plus gearbox etc etc etc

Haha well I wasnt going to completely nay say rob. There is a chance that he has messed the suspension up at some point! I'll be the first to have 180bhp in England out of a 700cc if it costs me every penny I own!! Which isnt a lot now Iv started spending them!

good luck with the finals and we would love to see you when you have some quality R & R time.

Still to do some calc's on torque and get it on a rolling road but with a lighter shell and better exhaust without a cat we are expecting it to be a lot better than a standard MR2.

Pam, yours is an inspiration - I am currently looking at 150-170bhp, but its torque that concerns me - do you know how much you're going to have? I really must come and have a look, but unfortunately I am in my final year/month of Uni! - as soon as I am free I will give you a pm and beg to have a look! The only thing is, your smart is already very light elsewhere, so im not sure what difference there will be to an otherwise standard smart?

Interesting times ahead for the smart community for sure!

nothing to stop you, in fact you have more room to play with than a fortwo.

Having spoken to a few of the indy garages, I was under the impression that 130bhp would be the most you can get out the 700 engine reliably. Anything more and your in to series risk of engine popping. I know Ian at big told me aggggeeeees ago that he had 160+ out of a roadster engine and it went pop on the table when he was tuning it. If you are going to tune your engine to those levels, it would need serviced extremely regulary and a lot of carful driving I would expect!

Im guessing the clutch? These cars are overtuned beyond 120bhp for the clutch I believe?

Nah clutch is ok after 120bhp if aligned correctly. I no that for sure
