We can now confirm that the smart deisel is fitted with a closed system type DPF filter as standard on the vehicle

still they need a spiel chequer though

After that last email, I did ask them to clarify that we were talking about the UK model.

Got the answer back today

Yes the particluate filter was comfirmed for the UK market by smart UK this morning

again a spiel chequer would have come in handy

Now either smart UK are completely deluded and out of touch with the product they are selling, or the UK diesel HAS a (closed) DPF

And I can confirm there is a closed type DPF.

Called smart this morning (on the freephone number on the website) and the rep told me there is a DPF, but he didn't know what type. So I sent an email, and here is the reply:

...regarding the particulate filter we can confirm that the Smart For Two cdi does have a closed system diesel particulate filter.

So, there we are. A definitive answer. Hopefully.

I didn't get back to you as SPF came back with a complex answer

but the Exhaust for the diesel is between £494 and £674

Having seen my untreated 18month old petrol exhaust:redface:, It's the first thing I'll be spraying bright red in high temp paint on this diesel

Oh , you've got VAT on top of those prices too
