  • Rear Axle pic wanted.

Does anyone have a photo or diagram (or link to either) of a rear axle as fitted to a 450 or Roadster (451 wrong shape) that I can glean the dimensions from.
The nearest I can find courtesy of Google is this:

but the angle it's taken from isn't ideal.
Ideally a shot taken in pure plan is what I'm after such that I can scale the dimensions from the easily obtained (from my own car) dimensions at the rear (ie tube spacing) as it's too damn cold to crawl underneath mine to obtain the rest!
    TIA.

    edit PS.
The dimension I'm most interested in is the width (across the car) of the forwardmost part of the axle, the part that the forward central mount is attached to at the front.

Thanks Ian for measuring for me but.....that's not the dimension I 'm after!
It the length of the tube that the mount bracket is attached to; the part that sits horizontally across the car in plan and end elevation views (or, as in the photo, the part that is most central and sits in the photo at 45 degrees). It is approx 20'' but I need a more precise figure.
If you have it at hand....but if not I'll get under my own car and give it a measure (when the weather improves!).

can't the measurement be posted up for everyone else??

why the request for an email?

could do with an overhead pic view and then thumb could annotate with the measurements he would like then Ian measure?

Why? Is everyone else building the project car I am and thus need the info?
If they do, I'm sure they can ask for themselves.

Yes, I'm sure Ian will be delighted to dance to your tune.
I, however, will gratefully accept any help offered.

                  .....
I think you ought to learn how to measure yourself if you wish to see your project car to completion.

                    Yellow please!
Thanks MD - that's just what I need.

Prioritising time is also essential to seeing a project to completion.
I can measure very well. What I cannot do is create daylight after working hours - or avoid having to work.

If I get the time this weekend I'll see if I can get the car up and get under it if you dont have an answer by then.

No! Absolutely not! I'm not having you do what I can do for myself! And anyway, you've done enough already. Up-ending your car and then turning it on its side - just for some photos for me - more than enough! Then removing the axle - well....

I'll properly look at the pics this evening, but a quick measure and scale suggests the dimensions are right where I need them to be to allow me to use a (modified) 450 axle for my project.

Many thanks MD and Ian for your efforts - they are much appreciated.

that would be some nice info to have available for anyone who should need it.

if its been done then 30secs to make it available for everyone
