    Re: Tune or Sell?

If you're continue to do low mileage - stick with what you have & tune it. You know it's been looked after & you will be aware of all of it's faults (if any) and foibles.

If you plan to up the mileage such that you're likely to stick on 30,000+ in the next 2 years or so, consider upgrading to a Brabus for engine longevity.

Realistically what am I going to get if I take it for a tune/dyno and get a Janspeed exhaust. That's what I've been quoted for. Will that get me to 80bhp as lots of adds state. Obviously they won't commit to bhp but out of interest and experience. Mine is a 61bhp pulse, who knows what he's running at? MPG is good mind.

Yes, 80bhp is realistic. Even without the Janspeed you could probably attain close to that. Personally I'd tune your car rather than get a Brabus because of the low miles and time and money already invested, also I prefer the standard gearbox (we have both a Brabus and tuned 54 plate truestyle 61hp).

Personally I would aim for over 105hp with the following mods:

Oil cooler (the most important mod and one I'd go for even if I kept it at 61hp)

Brabus Roadster or Silicone TIK (Brabus fortwo has a Roadster TIK)

Roadster Turbo (Brabus fortwo has this).

Janspeed exhaust to suit above turbo.

Roadster camshaft (Brabus fortwo has this).

Roadster injectors (Brabus fortwo has these).

        Rolling road remap

All these mods can be done by anyone with a few tools and a little mechanical aptitude using the online guides.

        Cheers!

It's nice to tune your car and make it individual but the long list above will have insurance implications etc. I saw no change in my insurance premium from changing from a Passion conv. to a Brabus. At least you will have peace of mind that the car is setup properly and if you are not sure what you are buying get an independent to look at it? No need to wait for any of the above to be fitted and hoping they are working correctly. Plus you may find a car with an extended warranty.

For some a tuned car maybe cheaper to insure than a Brabus it will not be the same for everyone, and the parts will Deffo work as they are standard. Only issue I see is that you buy a Brabus and you start again with a standard car unless you can swap over the bits what you want. Or try to find a crashed Brabus in salvage and do a full engine swap

Yes the miles are keeping me with this car for the long term now. Far too good a condition to let it go I think and at the end of the day I love the thing!! It's a really good car and very cheap to run and I can beat most cars off the line apart from a very nice 62 plate Brabus!! (he has a good laugh at me when I try, fellow owner an all!).
I'm wondering if I could get to around the 80bhp with just a dyno and a remap i'd spend my money on lowering it as well! Then i'd get want I want, better gear changes, a little bit more power and hopefully not make it hopeless to drive around town and then a damn good service. After all it does have only Merc service history and I'm due an MOT/Service in June.

Sounds great, 80bhp is a sensible number too. That's my plan also

All the mods listed make it easier to drive round town and could potentially suprise your mate with the newer Brabus if it's not tuned too, lol. My tuned daily driver dynoed at 110hp 122ft/lb after mapping.
80hp is realistic but I'd do the oil cooler before mapping, lowering or anything else for that matter.

                  Cheers!

s-mann do some superb parts and s2smarts can hook you up as they have a really good relationship with s-mann

I use the S-mann, it's thermostatic and brilliant quality using a Swedish Seetrab heat exchange. Big Performance do one too but I have no experience of it.

Another benefit is it increases oil capacity and utilises a conventional spin on filter.

Installation is quite simple if you wanted to do it yourself, just be sure to fill the cooler with oil prior to fitting.

                        Cheers!

Right then I've done it. I've ordered my parts. I've not gone too mad in the grand scheme of things, just a service, basic tuning parts, then Dyno + Lowered. Get the last two by the professionals!

                          1. K&N Filter (Already got this installed)
                          2. Forge TIK Pipe (Black)
                          3. Evil Twin Centre Exit Exhaust
                          4. Custom Fibreglass centre exit heat shield. Looks very similar to the standard flat heat shield but with provisions for the pipes!
                          5. NGK Spark Plugs
                          6. Oil & Filter
                          7. Fuel Filter
                          8. Clutch adjust

Then i'll get the remap done by a professional and get it lowered by them at the same time (not sure if I can mention them down in sunny Watford but if they are on here they'll know who I am from my emails and I look forward to the remap in the not too distant future).

Thanks for all your input i'll put my mods and further info in a better thread.

Oh and BTW i'm still looking for a oil cooler but haven't ordered one just yet but that'll make its way on to the car also at the same time, probably by the professionals.
