Driveshafts are the same and steering is the same as you say that the electric pas was from a pas equiped fortwo, not that you need pas in the first place.
Did you get the Sam and ecu and gearbox from the roadster?
    Straight swap for you

Have you seen the deal with radically altered vehicles?

How to register your vehicle and the cost: including new registrations, kit-built vehicles, repairs and restorations, and structural modifications.

I recently was going to swap roadster running gear into a fortwo shell and came across this. If I go ahead with the conversion, I'm just over the 8 points but it means I can't change the driveshafts or steering as I'd max out the maximum modifications allowed.

If you change the engine, gearbox, driveshafts and suspension you lose your registration mark. You then get a Q prefix one which can never be exchanged, not even for another Q plate. On top of this, you have to get an IVA done (as they do for kitcars), and I believe your tax rate is changed.

Although I'm not planning a driveshaft or steering change, I find it annoying how you can fit the roadster turbo to a fortwo engine and keep the points, but swapping the engine to a roadster one loses them, even though you have the same end result.

    Ha ha, very good!

On a serious note, there's not much that can top Pam and Jim's car. It's just awesome!

Clive Sinclair has already fitted washing machine motors to the C5, I'm sure he's copywritten the design!

I like how you have gone for the Mr2 3S-GTE engine but I am surprised that the 4E-FTE engine from a starlet glanza is not a more popular option Lighter smaller cheaper freer reving and 130hp stock a few simple modifications sees it poking out 180-190 but only being a 1.3 means that it will return back 45-50mpg

But still a fantastic bulletproof engine with plenty of tune-ability, and cheap for parts and replacements, a bit heavy being a cast block, keeps the back wheels fimly planted on the road,

and there is also the fact that we can all say im going to put a ferrari engine in a smart (obviously wishful thinking) but its the people that actually have the balls to actually build it that deserve plenty of credit, ive seen plenty of unfinished projects on ebay/online and plenty of dreamers who get into a project and then loose interest, Well id like to say to |Jim (and Pam of course) that actually completed what he /she set out to do. I intend on finishing mine, soon
