rear sharan/passat calipers work a treat using the front discs, hand brake is easy to hook up as well, brakets to hold calipers are easily made too

Yes, thanx. I've had my eye on S-Mann and Berlin Tuning whom both sell rear disc sets.

Development is free, I do it all myself. I have worked out a few cheats to bring the price down so hopefully, the full kit (front 4 pot, braided hoses, rear calipers and discs) should be less than £700.

Errmmmm, really? Front and rear discs, and braided hoses for £700? You'll destroy the competition!
There is a catch though; I don't know how things work in the UK, but here it would have to have the TüV certification, and then I would still have to pay an engineer another 350€ to do a study and have the vehicles technical spec sheet modified.

Fronts are complete, hopefully will fit the 1st set this weekend. Need to throw the bits I have onto the rear axle to see how it all works out.

That must be expensive to develop. Wouldn't you need something equivalent to a TüV certification?

Nah, the kit was far too expensive but I am working on a budget kit to be sold through smartmods.
Budget 4 pot front brakes coming very soon and development for the rear has started already.

That’s unfortunate, but thanks. I hope the new project works out better. I was mostly interested in options available for a rear disc. That must be expensive to develop. Wouldn't you need something equivalent to a TüV certification?

I will eventually do a fitting guide for these kits on my site including a price and place of purchase for a standard size rear brake disc kit.

I can't seem to find anything as stated on the Evilution site! Did anything ever materialize?

Back to brakes..

I have to disagree that adding disc brakes to the rear is only a track mod. But adding more bite in the rear without adjusting the bias is doomed. How much you would have to adjust it depends on other suspension charateristics?.. But, as at least the roadster has a weight distribution of 40/60"roughly" it need at least the same size brakes in the rear as on the front to maximise mechanical grip.

Obviously ignorant to the concept of 'weight transfer'.

In other words, bin the ABS and learn how to use the brakes proper..

In other words bin the effective aspects of the braking system and pretend you are better...

Without EBS, fortwo brakes are nothing like as effective.
With EBS and ABS I can late left foot brake mine to the point of the rear starting to break away. Without ABS? Not a chance of getting that close!!
