    Re: Puddlejumper Photography now Online

OK...the banner (of new york) is just that a banner, supplied by the website, i like it, its staying & its not supposed to link to anything, just part of the website design, this is a bought website so have to do the best with what i get

As for the picture of my smart, im still thinking of leaving it in there, ive made it smaller, might have a play around with it but dont wanna lost it altogether!

As for the watermark, im afraid its staying there...the level set by the site is watermark there or not there so its staying there!

      OK, I'll add my twopennyworth....

I have to agree that I found the banner a little confusing - what does an American city skyline have to do with a UK based photographer? The banner photo should really be one of your own images in my opinion....

I see nothing inherently wrong with having the photo of your car on your homepage, but I feel the image is too big and hence overpowering.

The biggest gripe from my perspective is the fact I find the word 'I' correctly in upper case in some places, then in lower case in others - one of my pet hates....

The home page is key to the whole site and it is important to capture the viewers attention and anything that doesn't gel can spoil it - the comments I have made spoil it for me....

The only other negative comment is that the thumbnail images are a little on the small size when viewed on a high res screen. If they could be made slightly bigger, I think they would be easier to see and therefore more inviting.... The same could be said for the font, I believe slightly larger would make it easier to read - just my opinion....

All that said, the images you have on your site are great and I'm impressed with them!

I too have my own websites for photography, one of my long term hobbies - and for my smart car:

      www.fshotf.com and www.fshotf.com/smart

The site has been up for many years, but is currently in a state of flux as I'm trying to revamp the way it looks - and haven't got it right yet! My home page doesn't gel at all at the moment... I did have a home page that used flash, but decided that I needed to lose it as so many people are buying iPads and these do not support flash....

I will get it right, but at the moment I have greater priorities....

Do not be put off by my, or anyone else's comments - good luck with your venture!

Thank you for the comments...i must admit im starting to regret posting it on here now lol

Right...the banner comes with the colour scheme of the website, therefore i cant change it unless i change the colours etc & to be honest it was the best picture i could find IMHO...so as i like the colours, the skyline piccie will also be staying...for now anyway

The picture of my car has been resized as much as the site allows...but will try making it smaller somehow, and its been moved so its not the first thing you see.

The thing regarding the "i" has been sorted....all in upper case now

All thumbnails have now been made larger so people can see them better!

Please be nice, this is as i said my first time at doing my own website, i was proud of it, however feeling a little defeated now lol

Kaz - don't step up into the limelight if you can't take constructive criticism, you are hardly a wall flower and not unfamiliar with people speaking their minds, you of all people should know that.............

Indeed is this really you, has someone spoofed your account? ;-)

Take constructive criticism for what it is - a form of help and learn from it (in terms of how people perceive your website)

You'll get there, eventually you'll know what makes the mark - that mark betwen what you want and what others find okay.

Don't be or feel defeated!! , we're all hopefully helping , people outside the smart community would visit and then possibly just pfft and walk away ,...... not buying your pictures.... and you don't want that do you ?
Did you actually expect something different fromwhat you're getting when you posted this to 'us' all ?
Take on what you want and alter it accordingly and you might not have those non-smart community people walk away saying Pfttt

            We're doing you a favour

err who actually 'owns' and runs this site of yours, You can get into the code and change the picture for whatever you want (or get one of the clever HTML people on here to do it (or point you in the right direction) for you perhaps)

The revised layout looks much better - and thanks for correcting the 'I' issue.

I created my main website from scratch, but my smart one is from themed website software - it's quick and easy! Some of these themes have banners, but it is really easy to change the image if you know a little about such things. I stand by my earlier comment that it should be one of your own images.

You have a good website, don't be put off by our comments, they are meant to be constructive to help you turn it into a great website!

                Re: Puddlejumper Photography now Online

i did put "lol" and happy smilies after everything i said, means i wasnt taking them comments as anything but positive and helpful...and i am altering where i agree with such comments

I posted this because i wanted people to see what i am so proud of, like i said i will take all comments on board, the ones i agree with i will adopt into my site & the ones i dont i wont lol

Duncan....thank you, i do also think that a picture that i have taken would be better than the USA skyline, however i dont know much about this to do it...although i will find out in my own time & sort it. I also dont know which of my piccies would look better there so until i do i wont be changing anything

                    Re: Puddlejumper Photography now Online

It's looking better but I still stand by my point that the picture of your car looks amateurish compared to what you're promoting, so shouldn't be there. Also, you've now got the picture of your car slap bang in the middle of the page which means that potential customers have to scroll down, past it, to the very bottom to get to one of the more important parts of the text..

After having some success selling photos at local craft fairs I decided this website was my next step forward!...

..All photos available as Greetings Cards or in high quality mounts of various colours and sizes.
It might also be worth having a page (or a calendar if possible) showing when and which craft fairs you'll be attending for people who might want a bit more of a closer look at your work.
