Oh ... air-tight, with a porthole I should have said

I finished the speaker installation today, and although I applied some Flashband to the outer panel of the nearside door, I completely forgot when doing the offside door :p I haven't noticed any rattling / vibration so far so I will leave it as it is for the moment.

    Cheers

Is the problem that the speaker has such a large amount of air behind it which will resonate? On the 450, the speakers screwed into air-tight bins under the dashboard, so I imagine the majority of the sound was only coming from the speaker cone. Still, I would have thought you would get better clarity from the face of the speaker than an enclosed door full of air? I will also have a sub under the driver's seat by the way ...

no, you're not putting any on the cone or surround, ignoring the effect it'll have on sound reproduction, it'll most certainly cause an imbalance in the position of the coil and magnet.

I meant where the speaker surround is screwed to the door. If you see the second pic I uploaded you'll see what I mean.

How are you finding the upgrade anyway? Good improvement no doubt?!
