      Re: TV touch screen ?

You will have to ask on talkaudio forum as there are not enough people on here

I would say the compact is great for space saving, but I think a regular amp will be better, don't buy yet, we will find something else or find some reviews

          Re: TV touch screen ?

why do you need it so compact??

loads of space for a 4ch amp under the passenger seat.

its close to the battery then.

              Only 2 places to display......

Passenger footwell (will get covered in mud and stuff)

Boot (you don't want to take up boot space)

I had some additional 6x9 (ew) in boxes that fitted behind the seats in the 450. Added so extra dimension but the sound from them is ****

I spent ages looking at options for my install and in the end the expensive stuff just wasn't worth fitting in the smart and i out amp under the seat, crossovers in the footwell, tweeters on the dash, kids in place and active sub in boot.

Of course, a show install is a different beast

                  Re: TV touch screen ?

a sub is a speaker for deep bass.....

a normal sub needs an amp to power it...

an active sub has an amp built in.

if you buy a 4ch amp then you CAN run the sub from that as you only need 2chs really (left front, right front) .... and if i remember, you bridge the other 2 channels to give a sub output)

not sure how common 2ch amps are though.

seriously, my advice is get a boxed active sub as the slim line ones just aren't gonna be what you are after (been there done that)

don't get an amp yet. fit the speakers to the new HU and see if you want more power. its not about LOUD its more about not having the volume of the HU 90% to get good volume.

save your money for the HU - thats the bit you will notice.

Mono amp is 1 channel and used to power a sub/multiple subs.

Get the head unit you want with all the features u want first, that way u don't need to change it as it's what u want and has the features u need. You have your components which are very good IMO and will sound better the more you use them.

Buy a 4ch amp, why, because that will make your components sound the best they can and give them the power they were designed to take, you don't have to but when u turn up the head unit too loud it will cause distortion and speakers don't like distortion, it will shorten your speaker life.
The front 2 ch will power your components and the rear ch bridged will power a sub.
Now the advantage of having a separate amp is that it will be more flexible, flexible means that if you decide to change your sub for what ever reason it's simple, if you decide to change your amp again it's simple plug in and swap, if you go for an active sub it means 1 you may pay more but if you change your mind or it breaks there is more involved.

The thing about having a proper sub over and active sub is that again you get more, my advice is loose a bit of boot like mine which has not impacted me as all. You can get a shallow mount sub which will take up about 2shoe boxes and sound better than an active sub, why because generally it will be a larger diameter ie 10/12 inch and it will have more volume of air to move, more air equals deeper bass generally. Even if you go for an 8inch sub in the boot it will sound better than the active sub route.

It's all subjective and about opinions I give you advice based on fitting many systems in many cars but I'm in no way an expert, but as the smart has less sound deadening and plastic body panels IMO it makes having a better quality system even more important as to over come the outside noise you have to turn up the volume.

At first I had an amp which was 4x20w rms and the sound was good but something was missing and when I turned up the volume the front mids would make the dash vibrate so I took some of the lower frequencies out, I then changed my amp and now I think it's 4x75w rms and the change was instant I now don't need anywhere near the volume before and I can even have the sub off and still get good range, so I add a bit of sub and it gives me good all round quality and I don't need to drive the speakers as hard, also no vibration from the front even though they get more lower frequencies than before.

I hope this helps you find what u are looking for and helps you understand why I give you my advice. A well bought system will last you many years and you find you can move it from car to car.

Yeah now this is nice and have to save the pennies before buying this but yeah pretty much spot on what I'm after HU wise.

that was very heplful thank you ever so much for the input so how do I and where do I run the tweeters off. Mids and tweeters together in the 2 channels and in the other 2channel bridge them and power the 10"sub off it ?

I also just want to say thanks to all who have have me some advice and that it's all different for all people different set ups might and will work better for different people I'm sure I will figure out what mine is but you all have got me thinking of all sorts but iv have decide--

Pioneer double din HU like the one problemchild mentioned

Focal 165 door speakers and tweeters

4channel amp (not sure on make yet)

                          Re: TV touch screen ?

You run the crossovers off the front outputs then a tweeter and a mid is connected to each crossover.

Sorry to sound like a broken record but how do I no if a sub is the correct watts and rms ? I'm looking at getting this

I'm so lost then what amp preferences should I look for other than a 4 channel amp

Always match watt rms figures forget about max output, look at Jl audio, focal, hertz, alpine, orion but mainly look for a sub that meets

                                1 power of amp
                                2 size of box

You probably want a 10 inch sub that can go in 0.5 cubic foot sealed box
