We needed a cheap to run car for my better half's daily commute (Landy being somewhat expensive and not very PC to run like that) Checked out lots of small cars (so boring) then tried a Smart and found this site. A fun car that comes with a social scene. One optional extra that none of the others have!

..... seem to have a passion for fun cars - hate to admit it but was the owner of 2CV's .....

Why hate to admit that most honourable route to Smart (Roadster) ownership

I was having so much fun with my 2CV (still have a brand new unregistered one but haven't bonded with it yet) that it delayed my entry to the Smart world for several years, & even now wish a Smart's gearchange was as fast as a 2CV's.

Other half got jelous - now has one as well - a bit of a drive to pick it up thought - Wales is a long way from Surrey!!

Another ex Mini owner here - wanted something more reliable and comfortable but still little and individual. I haven't been disappointed

I used to think that Smarts were the most awful cars ever on the road, until a couple of months ago when i was sitting looking out of the window at work and a black cabrio was parked over the road, after staring at it for several minutes my opinion just changed and I had to have one.
So what made me buy mine? - haven't got a clue still! But everso glad I did as I love it far far more than my previous car (Ford Probe).

Like a few others on here I also was a beetle owner in the past , I was attracted to the Smart for the same reasons as the Beetle , it was different , looked like none of the other plain steel cages on the road , its quirkey and gets a reaction where ever it goes .
Okay the reactions are the two extremes people either love em or hate em , either way I'm happy cos at least people noticed it , not like the none head turning astrafiestamondeocorsas .
Okay its not the fastest thing on 4 wheels but if I want speed I'll just take my two wheeled transport .... long live the smart ... that is unless it gets too popular ... then it'll look the same as all the others on the road and I'll have to have a rethink again.

I had been owned by several 2cv's all of which I loved despite the fact that they tend to gradually decay around you, when my last one had to go to the scrapyard in the sky I saw the SMART cab and thought that they were a sort of a grown-ups 2cv and that was it HOOKED, as you know I now have a roadster which is nothing like a 2cv and tho I love it with passion I still love my all black cab

I loved.
Economy.
Cost (£6k from a dealer, low milage passion with aircon and extras)
Handling.
Looks.
The fact they REALLY Do hold their price well.
Done 10k in mine in 3 months, with more to follow...I'm hooked!
