  • Mastertech Assist (Manchester)

Just had my A service today on my fortwo brabus at mastertech in Droylsden, Manchester.

Really good service, friendly and very reasonably priced, half what the main dealers charge!!!

    Give them a try,

    Cora

I went just before Christmas to have mine checked, and asked a lot of questions. Very friendly, nothing was to much trouble. I would highly recommend them. Even get free tea & coffee

Hi Took mine in today for a B service £109.92

      Service £58.00

      Engine oil
      Oil filter
      Screen wash
      Sump seal oil ring
      Brake Fluid

Great service the guys there used to work for Smart Manchester. They do little marketing all mainly by word of mouth. Have smart clients from as far as Derby,Ellesmere Port, North Wales.
      Provided a full report.

The boss was telling me that he has had a few smarts in with burnt clutches.Had something to do with the Re-mapping, As they are small engines the mapping is causing some clutches to burn after around 20,000 miles. I am sure that there are some Smarties would would say that they have no issues what so ever with there clutch after mapping.

Any way good bunch of guys well worth a visit

      Cheers

      Steve

        £109 or £58 ... or both?

Had to chuckle scanning their website:

        Services offered:
        Aircon recharge and servicing
        Gearbox repairs
        Oil leaks
        electrical diagnosis

        ops:
        Might wanna get that reworded

PS did you not get sparkplugs and airfilter on your B ?

        or is it a diesel?

Exactly my experience too, and that of pretty much all of us at NW Smarties for that matter. They're good.

Mastertech get a lot of work from the Nwest Smarties I heard about them throught the local group.
Other than Sam at Mcsmarts these are the only other people I trust with my car.

@mancbloke: when did you have this B service done?
I just phoned Tommy at Mastertech Assist and he quoted me £205 !!
                Main stealer quoted £199.

I wish he'd come back and clarify

                    Re: Mastertech Assist (Manchester)

I'm thinking mancbloke must have a for-two rather than a roadster and that's why the price is less.

When I told Mastertech that they were quoting more than the main stealer he went on about having to take all the back end off to get to the spark plugs etc (1.5hrs work), and that main stealer would charge me extras for stuff. He told me to check that main stealer price included air filter, plugs and oil, etc.
I find it difficult to believe it wouldn't !!?

Not impressed so far, considering Mastertech is probably almost twice the distance for me than the main stealer. :frown:

                      Re: Mastertech Assist (Manchester)

If the main stealer is Manchester, then no it most likely doesn't. They quote you the price for labour and some of the stuff they know they will use but not for things like spark plugs unless you explicitly ask them to do so. Least that was my experiences of them. Either that or they've not added on the VAT or they have simply forgotten to include certain items that Mastertech know will need using/replacing.

I find it very, very hard to believe that a stealer is cheaper than Mastertech on anything, they practically live to undercut and piss off the guys down the road at Mercedes Manchester so I would double and triple check with the stealer.

The other thing is that you should realise that the quality of the work between stealer and Mastertech is often not comparable. I've learnt the hard way, if I want my car to come out with faults after going in, take it to my local stealer. If, on the other hand, I actually want it competently fixed and no new faults created, it goes to Mastertech!

It wouldn't surprise me if the stealer didn't even bother to take the back end off to get to the plugs. Believe it, there's a reason we don't trust them :wag:

                          Re: Mastertech Assist (Manchester)

My roadster had a full merc service history, and when it came to its C service and I went to a non "stealer garage" it would seem that the bottom plugs have not been changed since the car was brought most likly.

I went to ask the garage why that Merc would stamp the book saying had a full B & C services done, he said that the reason being the price is to change the top plugs and if you wanted the bottom plugs it would 3x hours labour and cost of 3 other plugs :-O, so most people just say nah thanks I will pass :-(

They also made a hole behind my rear number plate so it would be easier on the next services, as you avoid having to take the rear bumper off each time, in affect making it cheaper for you, and saving time for the garage :-)

OK, so I phoned the main stealer to check on 'extras' and it seems for a set of 6 spark plugs, Smerc Bolton will charge an extra £132, then there's the air filter, pollen filter, etc. The B service price quoted only includes oil and oil filter, everything else is extra!!

Suffice to say my roadie is booked into Mastertech next week for some TLC!!

You've made the wisest choice though, your roadie is in good hands with Mastertech... they seem to do a lot of them of late, I've dropped by there a few times in the past few weeks and there's always a roadie or two in the car park. Are you having a loan car for the day (normally a 2002 450 Pulse Coupe if you want a smart!) or waiting around (check out the delights of Droylsden town centre and its fantastic shopping facilities while you're there! )?
