  • Anyone good with brake disc related code?

    Hi guys

To cut a long story short im looking for a bit of help i bought some new brake discs for my sisters 1.1 forfour pulse back in march with the intensn of fitting them my self i having tried this i couldnt get them to fit so a few months later i asked my local garage to fit them they said that they wouldnt fit the car as they where just a few mm to thick. So i called smart tune and explained and they said there was a mixup with the supply from ecb and that i had been sent fortwo discs by accident so they arranged for the currier to swap the discs with the correct ones 2 months later the car was due for an MOT and as its so low milage i thought that we would get them fit at the same time.
Well the car passed the MOT no problems but the garage said that the replacement ones i have been sent are still not the correct ones!
And im figuring its too late to return them now.
Just wondered if anyone could advise on this.

The part numbers/ code off the box is as follows.

    1684 - 801?

    MD16?

    D1407

    Bar Code number: 24101741684801001.

    They are ECB brakes.

    Cheers.

fairly fundamentally, fortwo's only have 3 studs, so I hope the problem was bigger than a few mm too think
I'd give smartsrus a call if I were you, they stock the EBC discs, should be able to compare them with ones off the shelf.
Failing that, I've got an EBC box for the fortwo (and roadster) discs in my garage, so can check when I get home to see if the codes are the same.

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

I'm sure that link I posted is by no means definitive. I'm afraid I just don't know the forfour that much :S

Re: Anyone good with brake disc related code?

Thats ok no worries, i just find it hard to believe that i have been sent the wrong discs twice. I may take them with my forfour when it has its mot at smart of stockton and not the local garage and see what they say they are normally pretty good.
Mines a diesil and i think the discs are different to the petrols for some obscure reason.

If you have solid discs than that is the correct part number, if instead you have vented then you need D1408

Re: Anyone good with brake disc related code?

Solid discs are solid... vented discs look like two discs sandwiched together with vanes in between them.
