HELP please : Alternator Belt snapped - advice on fitting new please

Hi folks

Smartie's alternator belt has shredded itself

I have bought a new one and have searched the forum for advice on fitting it, but the only thread I could find has a dead link to another site's url...

I have also looked at the "Technical Guide" Board... now old age is definitely affecting my brain so I may just have missed it

Any help or pointers to help would be greatly appreciated :thanx:

I wonder why its shredded, is the alternator spinning freely?

Incidentally, yes, you do go through the wheel arch. There are 2 'bungs' which hold up a cover onto the bottom of the chassis rail.
so once you've removed the inner wheel arch (3 x 10mm nuts), and the smaller cover on the chassis rail you'll be able to see the belt and check for tension etc.

I will check that although i suspect (like me) some bits are just starting to wear out

Thanks for this it looks less complex from underneath the car! The picture on the link will help and I guess I will take off the offside wheel and move in from there - wish me luck :redface:
