  • first ever service

I have the single spanner just started to show, this at 5,950 miles, the car was registerd from 1st Sept 08, i'm assuming the service clock started at the dealer, I was told 1 year or 12,500 miles.

My local independant Merc/Smart garage is quoting £90 inc propper Smart parts, is that about the going rate for a single spanner service. That includes a loan car if required.

I didn't know this place existed till a few weeks ago,

I'll see how they do and let you know.

    Re: first ever service

the car was commissioned a month or so earlier than your collect date, that's all. (As soon as that battery is first connected, it starts counting)

If it's a 61 or 71 petrol, then yes the interval is 12,500miles or every 12 months , whichever comes first

Price is about right for an A service. (not much more than an oil and oil filter change basically)

dont worry about how long youv'e had it, just get it serviced. i remember at work a bloke started going mental over the service light comming on his x-type a moth early. i did his oil and filter change and he came back a month later just to have a pollen filter fitted. we all thought in the workshop, WTF, why didnt he just have the service done a month previous. earlier the better i say!
