  • Broken Spring???

I need help, I think my spring has broken, though I dont know which one! After taking my car out for the 1st time in a month I get 100yds down the road and bang she goes, picked up the metal piece that dropped off and it looks like spring (so my neighbour says anyway) Now for the blonde part - is there springs on the back aswell only I cant see them? Also if it is the spring where can I purchase them from and is it expensive? I drive a 53 fortwo Thanks for reading,

    Re: Broken Spring???

It is common for the front to go. smart issued a recall on cars of a certain age so it may be worth getting in touch with your local dealer first before going out and doing any spending.

You may find that your car is covered and it'll be freeeeeeeeee

The springs are ~£30 each. But if I were you I would not buy the part myself but simply take it to a local garage to fix.

Yes there are springs on the rear.....here's mine

Oh bu**er, the garage said front springs, I guess if its the back then it wont be covered on the recall? Is it safe to drive?
