Hi All,
I bought the subject car six months ago; it is fast approaching its first B service under my ownership.
I have serviced my own cars for the last 20 years, so know my way round a spanner.
How much is involved in doing this service myself? Is there a manual anywhere?

Can the scuttle panel between the front front screen and the bonnet easily come off for access to the air filter and pollen filter?

Where is the fuel filter, in the engine bay or near the tank?

What gap should the plugs be set to?

I assume that discs & pads are straight forward?

If only I could buy a decent workshop manual at a decent price....

Any advice gladly appreciated, thanks ...

In short, buy new plugs (iridium), oil and filter change every 6 months, brakes are simple, cabin filter is simple, belts are a but harder, fuel filter I don't recall but have a feeling it's in the tank and doesn't need doing....

just a note...when it comes to the service that also needs the cambelt changing........bite the bullet & take it to smart/merc!

mr Fudgesmart had one of these & that was the one job that he said wasn't worth doing himself.......so I'm guessing it deffo wouldn't be worth anyone else doing themselves either!

I will be over to forfour.co,uk in a minute, I expect I have lots of reading to do. My problem in life is a lack of time, both for playing in the garage & chatting on forums.
One other quick question. One of the dip beam headlight height adjustment motors runs constantly, which I am told means a new headlight unit is required. How much work is involved in doing this? Does the front panel have to come off and is that easy?
Choice of car was, err, tricky. After my scooby died in a big way, I wanted something "different". It needed four seats, and had to be quick, but I wanted something less run of the mill. "Little Miss Dunc" said "No way are we having a smart car" but now she is converted.....
