PiperX Filters. 1st time

Hi all.
I have just bought a Piperx air filter for my 451 passion. Can these be put straight in, or do they have to have some "oil treatment" on them like when cleaning it for the first time?

I've never oiled my Piper-x filter. Just blow it out with an air line every few months.
When I enquired about oiling I was informed it was not nesessary, even though it states to do it on there website???
