Picnic in Lytham Sunday 12th August 2012

Each year I organise trip around Lancashire which hopefully appeals to everyone inc those with children.

On Sunday 12th August we will be going to Lytham for a picnic. As you know for those who have been to Lytham before there are large grassed areas stretching for around 3 miles. It is very rare for car groups to park on the grass but after filling in numerous H&S forms we have secured parking on the grass opposite Dicconson terrace.
So fingers crossed for a good day and don't forget your hampers!

*** Update******

After having a discussion with Geoff there is a further twist to the day out.

There will be two departure times. The first one will be 10.00am and will be lead by Geoff for a tour around North Lancashire. The second will depart with me at 11.00am and we will rendezvous with Geoff a pre-arranged point. Then onwards to Lytham. So there are two options for the day.

That sounds good, if newbies without kids are welcome? I actually live quite near Lytham.

Around here, I've seen loads of fortwos, but virtually no roadsters or forfours.

There may be a change is the plan as Geoff may take us a diferent way coming off at Chorley rather than all motorway driving. We will be starting at Bolton West services around 11 ish.

Great well he route might be changing as Geoff is planning a few surprises so we may now be coming off at Chorley and taking a different route with more A & B roads than motorway.!

So meet up at Boltin West around 10.45am so we can depart around 11 ish!

Better than Blackpool at least!

If any passengers are coming along that enjoy real ale, there is a pub nearby that does local speciality ales by the way. But I'm assuming most won't be interested in that because they have to drive.

Hopefully the weather will hold up and be nice.

There is also the stunning Lytham Hall. We organised a big MINI meet there last year to raise some funds for them. Since then they've had a Lottery Grant and are renovating it; it had belonged to a large insurance group and, whilst maintained quite well, the interior was wrecked by fluorescent lights and office renovation. Well worth a look round though especially as a quick look on the site indicates a Classic Car Show on 12th

Lots to do inc Lowther park. Also waiting for confirmation from the Smart dealership in Blackpool they may bring one of the latest models to our meet!

Well just had confirmation from Smart Blackpool to say that they will bring two smart models and the new electric bike (if it arrives in time)

So after having a discussion with Sir Geoff we will stable the cars at Lytham in model order in a square formation. So fortwo’s will park one side, forfours to the other side and so on. With room in the middle for the two models plus the bike from the dealership.Cheers
