any news on meeting points/ route? I'd love to join the convoy but I'm happy to meet there if that's going to be easier.

Re: Picnic in Lytham Sunday 12th August 2012

      From North West Smarties.
After a discussion with Steve we have decided to Start from M61 Bolton Services Northbound. There will be TWO start times.
Those who, like me, would like a drive first, will be leaving at 10:00 am. I have a very interesting route planned. One hour later whose who fancy a shorter drive will leave the services behind Steve. Seventeen minutes later we all join up together, then via A59 and M6 leaving at junction 31A, we will wind our way on minor roads ending at Lytham at 12:30 approx.
Just had confirmation from Smart Blackpool to say that they will bring two smart models and the new electric bike (if it arrives in time).
So we have decided to stable the cars at Lytham in model order in a square formation. So fortwo’s will park one side, forfours to the other side and so on. With room in the middle for the two models plus the bike from Smart Blackpool.
All we need now is decent weather and a good turnout. I`ll sort the first, leave the rest to you.
      Sir Geoff.

Just met up with Geoff at Rivington Services M61 for a dummy run to the 11.00am meet up point near Whittle-le-woods.

Just to remind you when you enter the services off the M61 there is a traffic calming strip so slow down guys.

Don't forget 12th August two departures one with Geoff at 10.00am then the second at 11.00am with me then off to meet up with Geoff and the others then onwards to Lytham.!

Re: Picnic in Lytham Sunday 12th August 2012

I will be in Lytham and St Annes on Saturday and Sunday.I did not think the green streached for 3 miles.I only know the part near the windmill near the sea front. Is that where you will be? What time will you be there and how long will Smart Blackpool have the cars on view. Also what time do you think the event will finish?
Yes Lytham has some nice cafes for coffee and cakes, however i think St Annes (Just next door) is even nicer, with a long prom, and pier.Loads of nice shops, and some good restaurants like Tiggis for Italian, and there is an Indian in St Annes (Mogul in Orchard Rd)and Lytham (in the Main st) owned by the same person that do a set meal on Sunday for £9-00.
Blackpool is the next stop after St Annes so you have everything all next door to each other.Have a ride on the new trams in Blackpool, see the Smart cars in Lytham, and have a meal in St Annes.I sound like a tour guide, but then i will be moving to St Annes at a future date.

If you pass the windmill on your left, after a couple of hundred yards there is a Zebra Crossing with a parking area just after it - that's where I think we're parking up.
This may or may not work but here's a map: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en...ytham&ie=UTF-8

                  Hi Sarah

Its just before the Zebra. I will be there first as I have to wear a HI VIZ as part of the RA to Flyde BC.
The weather looks promising so give your smarts a good polish and dust off your picnic baskets/Hampers.

                  See you Sunday!

                  Steve

I'll still aim to be there but no promises I'm afraid. Got nights out Friday and Saturday and watching the missus run 10k on Saturday too.

                      Hi

                      Have you shares in Mogul!
I did look at St Annes but it was getting us all together without incuring parking costs. We should be there for 12.30 up to 4 ish. Not sure what time the Smart dealership is coming between those times. All I know is the sales manager stating they will be there. The smart groups have been to Blackpool on many occasion so this was different.

                      See you Sunday!

Many thanks.I thought it would be near the windmill. No i do not have shares in the Mogul, but i am a curry lover, and i have the stomach to show for it lol. AS well as St Annes,i have been to loads of curry houses in Wilmslow Rd Manchester and Brick lane London,Plus the best Indian the Hilal in Timperley, and used to be in Handforth.
I will not be in my Smart as i will be with my friend in his car.(NOT a Smart) but looking forward to seeing all the other Smarts. I was in Blackpool the other week for a classic car and bus show which included loads of old Minis. There has also been a Tram event recently. Its all happening in Blackpool/Lytham/St Annes.

I normally do that run, well worth a trip as the display of cars and buses is brilliant.

Yes you are correct.Mostly older Minis including one of the first with sliding windows still going strong, plus a few BMW Minis including a new Coupe which looked good. The old buses were also good including a Daimler which used to belong to Salford City Transport.
