Thanks but I had a look on there and didn't like the blue on black (hard to read)

Pick a different layout in your preferences.

Surely sharing the knowledge is better than directing people away to elsewhere.

It is being shared. The forum is free to view. Personally I think it's a better idea to localise information than spread it around, thin it out and lose control of the info, especially considering how the forfour is seen on here. We haven't spent ages creating a forfour resource so that other forums can benefit. If someone has a question that is answered well elsewhere, I see no point in doing anything except pointing them to that resource in exactly the same way we, and others point to our respective websites.

And this is the issue, it's not pointing to the solution, it's akin to saying "just go here instead and duplicate your question".... rather than saying "here is the answer to your question right here".
