450 smart real mileage per tank?????

Hi people.
Tried looking for other threads on here like this but theyt all seem to drift a bit.
So if people could put up what ther best mileage for hole tank (well until you hit the reserve).
Ive heard of some cars doing 400miles easily.
I f people could put what model smart fortwo and if they drive in softouch, softip or combination of the two.
I'm aware ther aree lots of other things to consider i.e weather, condition of fortwo etc but for now i'd like to keep it basic.

Many thanks to anyone willling to put ther info on here.

i did 260ish miles on one tank but i did run it dry, litteraly untill it stopped. i was at work when it happened!
i did do 351 miles on the london to edinburgh eco run which REALLY surprised me. filled up in london and got to berwick with 0.5l showing, the most tences thing iv done so far.
i usually get about 230-250 miles round town driving


results are with my 2000MY, 'W' reg, 600cc, modified Pure with the blue golf ball gear shift (i carnt remember which one is which), running on shell v-power

2003 700cc softouch - 300 miles typical (~45mpg), 450 miles best ever (~70mpg).

I never run tank dry but fill up when I've still got one blob showing, so fill to one blob about 230ish

i tell a lie i usually get arround 210 -230 miles arround town not 230-250 miles
furthest iv got on one tank 351 miles - 71.4MPG, london to edinburgh eco run
usually im getting between 35-50 MPG arround town depending on my lead foot
i once filled up with shell racing in germany an i did 189 miles and i got 41.9MPG. i was driving like my arse was on fire though (80/90 MPH)

No and id never recomend it either

The reserve should still give you 40 mile approx but wouldnt want that to be conted really as i wouldnt try to go into reserve unless i had no choice.

I wouldve asked mpg but i sure i not the only one that resets the clock once i fill up in any car once i hit the red light (or just before).:p

Really depends on your car and your fuel too early models only had a 22l tank later i believe had a 35l?

I do a 100 mile a day round trip commute in a 600cc 22l tank smart that is 99% motorway If i time it right i slow down from 70 once for a roundabout the rest of the time im sat at 3k-3.5k rpm.

Most I have ever seen is 260miles to a tank on average though at 75mph 200 but i am remapped and have a proper digitec GMBH exhaust too. That and I do not drive it gently at all. average id say is 45-50mpg real world figure id expect 50-60 if i drove it sensibly though problem is i like scaring scooby drivers too much

I'm getting around 45-50mpg on my 04 plate fortwo Pure Coupe with a Digitec '84bhp' remap. I usually average around 320 miles on a tank (33L fuel tank).

Over the last 4 full tanks I have averaged 43.9 mpg and the best of the 4 tanks was 47.6 mpg.

My car is an 07 plate 450...

on the 450 i have got 60 miles from the 5.0 liter flashing and then a further 20when its been screaming at me that i have 0.0

I really dont recomend doing that though unless you have a full can of fuel in the car.

Define reserve?? When it flashes at you to fill up, or when it reads 0.0l??

Either way, it's not measurable as you can brim it at the same point every time you fill up, and you'll always put a different volume of fuel in. The petrol gauge, or as I once heard it called 'petrol based randometer' is extremely innacurate.

mpg is the only way to calculate it, and even then, you can't guarantee people are doing it right

Ours is a 2002 450 (22l tank?) driven in semi-auto everywhere (full auto is too annoying )

When using it for 65mile round trip to work (80% motorway & sometimes traffic) and generally driving at 100km/h, typically get 220miles out of the tank, with round town being typically 190-200miles. This is usually down to 4litres showing.

Most achieved - 237miles...

ps - would drive quicker than 100km/h but trying to watch engine at mo. Over 3k revs and the oil just dissappears...

had to wait until i needed to fill it up as this was my first go at measuring the mpg so no past info (only the 2nd time ive filled it up)

2003 700cc model - mostly A+B roads out of town - average journey about 7 miles, biggest maybe 30 at a push
