Well glad I took someones advice on , you pay for what you get, and I paid the price and got the SRUS remap. The bit about the SRUS having a kick straight away I was told was because, the ecu had forgotten all previous driving, and when you first put your foot down, it tells the car it needs boost and gives it all the boost it can, hence the massive improvement straight away, and then you drive it around alot like that for a while, and then you remain with alot of boost all the time.

I thought the SRUS was totally worth it, motorway, was scary. Turbo lag i love, im staring at the rev counter, hit that 35000rpm and the car jumps into life in all gears... The turbo sqeels , d/v gives a nice loud sneeze, and took it on the country lanes against friends from college and they all find it stupid how this little smartie can whoop them all in the puntos etc....
    :> ITS AMAZING!!

I dont want to cast aspersions or point any digits of blame, but were'nt these the cheap remaps offered in several threads on the site?If so then all I can say is you get what you pay for.I do hope that all is ok and gets sorted,I know how exasperating it is when you get something and it just dont measure up!I think that the need for a comprehensive remap review as is being carried out on site will be a real boon top those thinking of remapping.I must admit i am a tiny bit dissapointed with the Brabus in that it stops accelerating at 95 when there are lots of digits left on the clock!!!

AndyM where you the same guy that ages ago when all this started said, you get what you pay for etc, cos who eva said that, pushed me in the right direction to getting the SRUS remap and Id just like to thank who eva that was..

Well I can from first hand say, get your money back from the money back guareentee simon offered and put it towards the £299 for the SRUS, cos i can now say there BRILL!!! (got a K&N filter and scoop extra thats all)
and watching the boost guage now sends me into a fit of laughter.

Hi Phoenix, cant say i remeber exactly if it was me.But whoever it was has done you a good turn.I am a bit cynical(being a salesman by trade)as there is nothing such as a free meal as we all know but in this day and age everybody is looking for a short cut and saving dosh.Personally if i was having a remap I'd go for a SRU remap as all the feedback seems to be of a positive nature.Luckily i was fortunately in a position to get a good deal on my Brabcab negating the thorny issue of a remap.Glad you got a positive result in your choice!

I have the new SRU roadster remap on my G2 city passion... it kicked in immediatetly, and is without doubt the best remaped smart Ive ever driven. It drives smoothly in all gears although it accelerates so fast that you arnt in the lower ones for more than a few seconds! It pulls hard in 6th, and when cruising at any speed above 50 in top gear there is no need to change down. However, if you really want to spank it... it'll hit just over 80 in 4th before it upshifts, etc....

I would speak to Si and get it checked to be fair.
It sounds like a car problem and to blame the remap is a bit un fair- however after all the slanging and jeering before hand its not suprising many people have 'Ha-ha'd it.
The I believe Si is offering a money back guarantee- its up to you if the grass is greener elsewhere. You could change and find its worse- or better?
Having tried several remaps and driven many i know they all differ. There is normally an instant difference and they mature as the ECU fills in some of the gaps and adapts to new fueling/air/readings from the lambada sensor and input from the anti knock sensor/driving style.

I had the tuning concept map on my roadster, the kick was there instantly but it was not stable for around 200 miles, as the car leart it became faster and smoother.

now i can push up to 120 no problems, push to 135 (208kmh) downhill and accelerate 70 to 120 in 6th without dropping.

my roadster eats golf gti's, audi tt's, nova's, saxo's and does definately make the boxster boys say not bad, well done for trying!

munk, give it a bit of time, as i sed to you on saturday, simon was worried about my car as it hadnt taken effect for a while, but it was just something that happened overnight for me.

With my stage 1 (and recently a stage 2) remap from Big I was told it would fully learn within 15 running hours which I seem to remember people saying about the digitec remap. In both my remaps the improvement was noticeable straight away...no doubt at all; but did improve further over next few days driving. I don't understand you guys who've just had your bargain remaps being told to keep the revs below 3000. Why, as surely that's about where the turbo kicks in which is mostly where the remap improves things? The other thing to remember is that remapping only moves/tweaks the power/torque settings up or down the rev range and can't actually add anything. The only way to do that is with a bigger turbo. For a more technical explanation I suggest Ian or another expert explains.

there seems to be a bit of negative feedback going on here about simons remap, all i can say is mine was noticeable straight away but it is still improving and i thank simon/darryl for a job well done, some 17 year olds tried to goad me into a race this morning and i spanked all over them in my roadster, should have seen their smily faces drop!!

Just been for another drive (to buy Optimax). Never use auto mode but turned it on and mine still says "A". Thought it was supposed to say "S" after this re-map. After having driven nearly 200 miles at less than 3000 rpm, anything seems fast. Just hope it has worked..... will give it a week like Munk........

By the way, it does help to exclusively use optimax as your fuel source, i used to use Ultimate but I found a drastic change for the better using this remap with Optimax! Do not expect changes overnight by using optimax, you will need to let it run through the engine for a while.

Al the roadster remaps seem to have been succesful straight away- if anyone sees swansea bob ask him what he thinks as hes had one of these- he told me that it took a week for his car to feel any faster- then he got clocked by the police for doing 110mph... i think its just a foible of the city coupe remap.

Slightly O/T as I don't actually have a TC remap, but I've found exactly the opposite to this in my car. My local garage sells Optimax and never put anything else in my city-cab. Since the garage down the road from it changed from shell to BP I’ve put in a few tanks of Ultimate in. I find the car more responsive and the early morning hesitations are all but gone when using it.

Stick in some Optimax in for a 3-4 tanks to clean things out a bit (you should be used to it by then) and then see what a tank of Ultimate does to it! Might be better or might be worse. Pick the best one for you.

BUT if I was running in a remap I’d get some 97 ron labelled fuel in pretty quick or it will be “learning” to run on 95.
