You are wrong there. Its only purpose is to ease bleeding air out of system when cooling system is being refilled.
For the petrol 450, a poor aftermarket pattern copy is now flooding the market. Being sold by lots of UK motor factors including Eurocarparts and Carparts4less. This thermostat has the check valve fitted wrong way. Bleeding air becomes tricky and engine will take a very long time getting up to operating temperature because check valve is constantly loosing heat to radiator.

No need for that. My thermostat has no internal check valve nor any external manual by pass.

Solenoid valve will operate as follows (in principle):
- From starting the engine up to 90 C - closed
- From 90C up to restart the engine - open.
- A button for enable (for maintenance ,eg change coolant)

A washer does not fit , should be adjusted .
