The unspoken truth is that thus far we cannot reconcile a functioning economy (on which we are dependent for our income) and environmental sustainability. The biological imperative goes no further the a sign in the back window that proclaims ''Granddaughter/son On Board''. And let's face it - most people don't give a ****. A smartphone, X-Factor on the box and beer in the fridge and no one demands anything better. Only the here and now, no concept of future sustainability for generations of their offspring who will follow. As a species we plan for the future no better than the ape from which we are descended but the ape is less dependent on creature comforts for survival than we are.

Quite correct Thrumbleux! However there are better things that can be done that still sustains everything we want and need but that are better for future generations. Its having the will and want to do it. It costs too much and thats the only reason why it isnt being done. Instead we are left with a badly thought up fudge. You can still keep everyone in work and put money in everyones pockets, by changing the way in which society functions. But I wouldnt worry it wont be done. The moneys in the wrong hands whereas it needs to be in other locations and no one will give it away. The largest turning point was just after war and into the 50s and 60s, since then its been pretty much impossible to change it. However if everyone says the same thing and actually understands everything (never gonna happen! People are too much like sheep) it will change. Remember one thing, everything said in the wide world is said for one reason and one reason only and thats to make them more money because every person with clout and every government has backers and its really them who call the shots.

We only need look at the government voted in (though not by Scots) to realise that there is nothing better on offer than what you outline as the current state of affairs Cougar. Recently I read someone posit that the post war social programme (NHS, housebuilding) was as a result of most of the male population returning from the horror of war. Men who had endured extreme hardship, had been shot at, bombed, feared poison gas, seen their comrades slaughtered in front of them - were unlikely to be intimidated by police with truncheons. Thus, for once, the working class were treated with some respect and provided for. We clearly aren't feared enough in current times. We let them read our e-mails while fussing over cup-holders. Small wonder we are shat on.

Adblue additive which is the next thing in diesels will finish it off for me, and I will return to petrol for my next car. To have to add a seperate tank with this blue stuff is just starting to take the mick, and if you run out of the stuff the car will not start. Pathetic.

The only reason I went for the Cdi was for better fuel figures, I can suffer the DPF, but as diesels get more complex to meet emmisions, its time to get back to a lifetime cataytic converter, where you only have to worry about a few sensors.
