And possibly not as limited as the tyres i'm trying to find for HWWLTTHMBO's Vx Signum. 235/35ZR19 extra load. IRO £200 each. Amen for tyre insurance (and the fact that the tyre didnt blow out despite half of the inner sidewall failing and just vibrated like :censor

I dont rate Toyo Proxes on the back of Brutus, theres something not right about them, at the recommended pressure they're too hard and bouncy.

The problem i am finding is that not many places will have the right tyre for a smart Brabus and the ones i have talked to are quoting me £160 per back tyre! oach!!! surely there are better tyres than what i have for less money!

The fronts are about £90 a tyre. I wont get much change out of £500!! :censor:

So many questions, I've just done the usual checks, and the rear Continental's that I put on less than 9 months ago are all but shot, the fronts need replacing on the basis of cracking, so I'm thinking about Toyo all round.

Any feedback now you've had them a while would be great
        Hi RichG,

The wear on the roadster has been good on it's T1-Rs but I have been mainly driving my mk7 recently on the older T1-S tread pattern.
The only difference is the T1-S tread appears to be more designed for dry weather driving.

The roadster really has great grip now with reduced side wall flex and it is really difficult for the car to break away (the spacers may help a bit here too and the lowered suspension).

The roadster always handled well but the mk7 has been transformed with the T1-Ss. The grip is enormously improved and it can be hustled round bends with great speed - it now feels like a tall roadster . The Bilstein Streetline kit helps here and there are 10mm spacers on the back.
The wear has been surprisingly good and they are nowhere near needing a change yet.

Road noise is perfectly good although I've never found this a big problem on smarts.

The wet weather performance is very good and the Toyos inspire confidence. Much better than Bridgestones and better than the Continentals I had on too.

I do have an open mind though and the Goodyear Eagles often get recommended by others but I would definitely go for Toyos again as the performance increase has been substantial especially on the mk7.

Some tyres just work well on certain cars and the Toyos seem to have a good 'connection' with smart cars.

All the best on your final choice.

What pressure are you running your Toyo's on the mk7?

If I remember correctly, I have 29psi all round on the mk7.

The fronts are 195/45/15 and the rears are 195/50/15.

I would never put anything other than the Toyo Proxies on any of my cars.

Pound for pound better value, better grip, and simply amazing when they get nice and warm on a hot summer day!

got Toyo Proxies on my for2, had them on for about 20k miles and hardly look worn in. Had a set or Uniroyal Rainsport before which lasted for about 38k miles, in my opinion Toyo's are better, although not a huge deal in it.

Some really good advice here, some rep for you!

I always wanted to know the difference between the T1-s & T1-R, Toyo told me it was just model upgrade.LOL

It would now make sense the difference in the tread ( i do prefer look of the T1-S over the T1-R ) but i can understand the difference, thanks.

Have to agree on the Toyos..

Personally i use Toyo Proxes R888 for summer use... handles decent on wet and huge fun on the twisties when dry.. =)

Just put Toyos on the front so looking forward to proper dry weather to find out what they are like. Avons on rear

I did a search on tyre-shopper against my registration and it maintains that the original tyre configuration is Front: 205/40R16 H 83 Rear: 225/35R17 H 83 which seems especially strange as I'm on 15" spinlines with [presumably] the original Bridgestone 185/55's all round.

Anyway, if I was looking to keep the same wheels but replace the hard, uninspiring Bridgestones with Toyo Proxes T1-R's - what sizes would you guys recommend for the best compromise between, in order of importance, safety, handling and comfort?

                                205 50 15s all round

                                assuming you have a roadie
