    Phil, you have mail
Are You talking about the clutch actuator?
I have opened it and greased it by grinding of the rivets and screwing it together.

Re: ***URGENT*** Clutch actuator help please!!!

Funnily enough, I had my actuator off and had it apart yesterday, as my clutch had been slipping. Not the best day to do it, it was bl**dy freezing!

I followed Evil's fantastic online step by step guide to the letter and completed the actuator service with no problems. Thanks darlin'

The rubber seal was in place and intact, but as Evil had predicted, it hadn't stopped the crud from getting inside the unit. I flushed out loads of black dirt and bits of grit

I have now secured the seal with cable ties as suggested.

Re: ***URGENT*** Clutch actuator help please!!!

Thanks again Shawn. Next time I need an engine rebuild / clutch fitting I know where I'll be sending my car.

Just to update the post I never intended it to be an evilution vs fq101 thread.

In fact both sites ended up being very helpful and I wouldn't have even know what to attempt without them.

Looking back at my photos it was necessary to remove the actuator from the car and the reason that I got into difficulties was because the actuator arm was already jammed in the "out" position before I removed it from the car, hence the very fragile nature of my clutch / stalling that occurred last week.

Neither of the guides detail the possibility of this so it might be worth adding it in.

The best tip received from Shawn was to hold the arm against a wall and lean into the actuator to force the arm into the locked position.

Various attempts at pushing the arm in by hand only resulted in it moving barely a millimetre.

and a BIG red dent in your hand too!!!!! (i bet thats how je$u$ got his, trying to push the actuator arm back in on his smart having just serviced it!!) it's silly stuff that normally catches you out, you'll look at all the obvious important things and something little will cause all sorts of head scratching!!
