Thinking about getting bucket seats for the roady, what dimensions do I need to keep in mind like width so they fit?
    I found this websie http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/

    Thanks.

Edit: also is the weight loss noticeable as the standard ones are very heavy.

    Re: Bucket seats

measure the space in your car with a tape measure
you'll need to modify the subframes to take the seats anyway!

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

touche... and I don't have one either, so can't help
I'm sure some kind soul can just measure the width of the standard seats? it will at least serve as a guide for you!

                Re: Bucket seats

Have you got a fortwo as the seats are the same so you could just measure them.
Also there's quite alot of headroom so I don't think height will be an issue.
Be careful with insurance though as the seats are metal backed as they form a barrier against rear impact and are part of the safety system.
Personally I'd look at having the original seats converted with holes for harnesses and the foam reshaped for more support and re upholstered. If you know any metal workers they may be able to move the sides out further to create a bucket seat shape while still keeping the safety protection they offer.
I've also recently bought 2 roadster seats and they aren't that heavy for what they are, and as the car is so light anyway, I doubt you'd feel the performance gains for the price you'd pay.

                  Re: Bucket seats

Thanks for the replies, ok no I don't have a fortwo at the moment, but will have a roadster soon (hopefullly) and have started a shoping list of what I am going to change and I want to decide on some seats but can't till I know they will definately fit.

As for modifying the current ones, could be good I guess but will probably cost nearly as much as a decent set of new seats. If I get new 'uns I could then sell the original seats to get some of the money back towards them which helps. as for the standard seats not being heavy, my heated leather ones were 20 odd KG's in my previous roady!!!

Any help with measurements would be massively appreciated

Roadster seats can be replaced without issue, fortwo seats are the awkward ones!

so most aftermarkets will fit right? without modification to the sub frame?

Are they? Any Fortwos I've been in have flatter seats than the roadster, wasn't it only the 61bhp LHD roadsters that have Fortwo seats?

The leather 'sports pack' seats in my roadie are quite sculpted to hold you in, I would be concerned about getting in and out if the seats were replaced by deep bucket seats!
