Above interesting observations support my theory that the intake losses are very small, hence little or no scope for any improvement.
"Upgrades" to the intake system may only result in small, almost negligible worsening of intake flow so not noticeable unless one carries out accurate air flow measurements. Therefore better not tampering too much and just carry out normal maintenance. Removal of casting flash perhaps but more important to keep a check on seal at connection of TIK pipe to turbo inlet and make sure all connections in inlet duct are correctly made.

The picture may make some laugh but it is really a scientific instrument called a manometer. Very accurate indeed and does normally not require calibration. This one is a whole lot easier to read off compared to a standard U tube manumeter since the zero point is "fixed" by introducing a large volume in the form of the Miller Oils Diesel Power bottle.
