Stock rods let go at 172bhp and then went thru the block,then the back of the car before ending up off to the right of the dyno!!!:censor:

Not trying to be a pedant, (maybe I am) why do people class them as the most powerful smart cars, they are no longer smart cars unless they are a smartcar with a smart (OEM) engine, anything with another make of engine is just a form of kit car.

If people really want a nippy smart chassis based vehicle why don't you throw electric motors in the wheels and batteries where the engine used to be, it'll out perform anything else you could squeeze into the space. Okay it may cost a bit!

Happy with that!! The stock rods are a joke!! They are soft my friend used a bearing press to try and bend one back for visual purposes and the press squashed the metal!! Hopefully my rods and pistons will hold way past that then. Just gotta find out the next thing that will go bang. Other than the head gasket that is!

By the way Im with you on the fastest smart not baing a transplanted car arguement. Its a great achievement to transplant a new engine in but it does defeat the object of having a 700cc car and still being fast a little bit
